Our Story

Nestled among the rolling hills of Suo-Oshima in Yamaguchi Prefecture, Japan, our family farm has been cultivating citrus for more than 275 years.

The story began in 1750 when our ancestor, Niemon Okamura, established the farm on the same land we continue to care for today. Over the centuries, the farm has grown alongside our family, passing from one generation to the next. Through changing times, wars, economic hardships, and modernization, one thing has remained constant: our commitment to the land and the citrus it produces.

For generations, the Okamura family has carefully tended these orchards by hand. Every tree is nurtured with patience, every piece of fruit is hand-picked, and every harvest reflects centuries of knowledge passed down through our family.

At one point, Niemon briefly ventured to Hawaii with hopes of beginning a new chapter abroad. Yet his heart remained in Japan, and he ultimately returned to Suo-Oshima to continue cultivating the family farm. Because of that decision, the same land that sustained our ancestors continues to sustain our family today.

Today, stewardship of the farm rests with us—two brothers honored to carry forward a legacy that began nearly three centuries ago. We do not view ourselves as owners of the farm, but rather as caretakers entrusted with preserving it for future generations.

Our farming philosophy is simple: work with nature, not against it. We do not use pesticides or commercial fertilizers. Instead, we rely on natural methods and organic matter to nourish the soil, promote healthy trees, and produce exceptional fruit. We believe that the best citrus comes from healthy land cared for with patience and respect.

Beyond the orchards, the farm is home to a lively family of nine friendly Goldadors—a beloved mix of Golden Retriever and Labrador Retriever—and three goats. Visitors often hear the dogs before they see them, happily roaming the property and reminding us that a farm is more than a place of work—it is a place of life, family, and home.

When you purchase fruit from us, you are not simply buying citrus. You are sharing in a story that spans generations—a story of family, perseverance, tradition, and respect for the land. From our orchard in Suo-Oshima to your table, we are grateful to share a small piece of our family's history with you.

私たちの想い

山口県周防大島の温暖な気候と豊かな自然に恵まれたこの地で、私たち岡村家は1750年より柑橘栽培を続けてまいりました。

すべては、先祖である岡村仁右衛門がこの地に畑を開いたことから始まりました。それから二百七十年以上の歳月が流れましたが、代々家族がその想いを受け継ぎ、同じ土地を守り続けております。

長い歴史の中では、時代の移り変わりや様々な困難もありました。それでも今日まで農園を続けてこられたのは、先人たちの努力と、この土地の恵みのおかげだと感じております。

仁右衛門は一時期ハワイへ渡りましたが、故郷への想いを胸に再び周防大島へ戻り、この地で農業を続ける道を選びました。その決断があったからこそ、私たちは今こうして先祖から受け継いだ農園を守ることができています。

現在は兄弟二人で農園を受け継いでおりますが、自分たちを「所有者」とは考えておりません。先祖から託された大切な農園を次の世代へ繋ぐための、一時の預かり手であると考えております。

私たちの農業は、自然とともに歩むことを大切にしています。農薬や化学肥料には頼らず、土本来の力を活かしながら、一本一本の木と向き合っています。手間も時間もかかりますが、自然の恵みに感謝しながら育てた果実をお届けしたいという想いで日々作業をしております。

また、農園には9頭のゴールデン・ラブラドール（ゴールデンレトリバーとラブラドールレトリバーのミックス犬）と3頭のヤギが暮らしています。賑やかな仲間たちに囲まれながら、家族とともに日々を過ごしています。

私たちがお届けする柑橘は、単なる果物ではありません。先祖から受け継いだ歴史、この土地への感謝、そして未来へ繋いでいきたいという願いが込められています。

遠く離れた皆さまの食卓へ、周防大島の風景や季節の香り、そして私たち家族の想いをお届けできれば、これ以上の喜びはありません。
